Perfect gift for calligraphy lovers
Bought this as a gift for my grandfather who practices calligraphy daily. He was thrilled with the quality. The Longquan celadon is authentic and the finish is flawless. The brush washer section is deep enough to clean brushes without splashing.

Beautiful but heavier than expected
This is a gorgeous piece that adds elegance to my study desk. The mountain-shaped brush rest is a nice touch. It is quite heavy, which is good for stability, but make sure you have a sturdy table. The only minor issue is a tiny imperfection on the underside of the lid, likely from firing.

Functional art piece
I use this for both ink grinding and as a decorative item when not in use. The green hue is very calming. It arrived well-packaged with no chips or cracks. Highly recommend for anyone serious about their painting tools.

Exquisite craftsmanship for daily practice
The celadon glaze is absolutely stunning in person. The color shifts beautifully under different lighting. The ink grinding surface is perfectly textured, not too smooth, allowing for good ink production. The lid fits snugly, keeping the ink moist overnight.

Great value for handmade ceramic
For the price, the quality is exceptional. The glaze feels smooth to the touch and cleans easily. I deducted one star because the brush rest groove is slightly shallower than I prefer for larger brushes, but it works fine for standard sizes.

Authentic Longquan quality
As someone who collects ceramics, I can confirm this is genuine Longquan style. The crackle pattern in the glaze is subtle and natural. It holds ink well without drying out too quickly. A wonderful addition to my Four Treasures collection.

A: The brush washer compartment measures approximately 8cm in length, 4cm in width, and 3cm in depth, providing ample space to rinse most standard calligraphy brushes.
Q: Is the inkstone suitable for liquid ink or only solid ink sticks?
A: This inkstone is designed primarily for grinding solid ink sticks, thanks to its textured surface. However, the basin is also glazed and smooth, making it perfectly suitable for holding pre-mixed liquid ink.
Q: Can this be washed in a dishwasher?
A: We strongly recommend hand washing only. Dishwashers use harsh detergents and high heat that can damage the delicate celadon glaze and potentially cause cracking over time.
