Good kit but requires specific software
Hardware works great, but make sure you have access to the IAR compiler before buying, as the free trial has limitations. Once set up, the performance is reliable.

Solid hardware, steep learning curve
The boards are well-made and the range is impressive for indoor testing. However, you definitely need prior experience with embedded systems to get the most out of it. Not for absolute beginners.

Best purchase for my university project
Our team used these boards for our final year IoT project. They were robust enough to handle constant re-flashing and the battery life on the end devices was surprisingly good.

Works well but documentation could be better
The hardware functions as advertised, but some of the advanced example codes lack comments. I had to dig into forums to understand the mesh routing logic fully.

Excellent for prototyping smart home ideas
I used this to prototype a custom lighting control system. The ability to flash multiple nodes and see them communicate instantly was fantastic. Highly recommended for hobbyists.
Q: Can I use this with Arduino IDE?
A: No, the CC2530 chip is based on the 8051 architecture and primarily requires the IAR Embedded Workbench. It is not natively supported by the standard Arduino IDE.
Q: Is external power required or can it run on batteries?
A: The boards feature a pin header for connecting coin cell batteries or AA battery packs, making them suitable for low-power wireless sensor applications.
Q: Does this kit come with the USB debugger cable included?
A: Yes, the kit includes a USB-to-UART debug cable for each coordinator node, allowing you to program and monitor the devices immediately.
Q: What is the maximum theoretical range between two nodes?
A: In an open line-of-sight environment, the range can reach up to 100 meters. Indoors, typical range is between 20 to 40 meters depending on wall materials and interference.
Q: Are the source codes for the examples provided?
A: Absolutely. All example projects come with full source code commented in English, covering basic communication, sensor reading, and mesh network formation.
