Solid board with minor heating
Works great for my weather station display with camera snapshot feature. It does get slightly warm when using WiFi and the screen at full brightness simultaneously, but nothing concerning.

Best value ESP32-S3 display board
I've tried several similar boards, and this Waveshare version has the best color accuracy and touch sensitivity. The USB-C port is a nice modern touch. Will buy again for future projects.

Perfect for IoT Vision Projects
This board is exactly what I needed for my smart home camera project. The screen is bright and crisp, and the camera module works flawlessly with the ESP-IDF examples. Setup was straightforward.

Fast performance with PSRAM
The 8MB PSRAM makes a huge difference when handling image buffers. I can process frames much faster than on standard ESP32 boards. Highly recommended for computer vision beginners.

Great hardware, documentation could be better
The build quality is excellent and the capacitive touch is very responsive. However, finding specific pinout diagrams for the camera interface took some digging in the wiki. Once set up, it runs stable.

Excellent learning board
As a student learning embedded systems, this board offers incredible value. Having the screen, camera, and WiFi all on one board saves so much wiring time. The Arduino support is solid too.
Q: What is the maximum resolution for video recording?
A: The included OV2640 camera supports various resolutions up to UXGA (1600x1200). However, for smooth video streaming on the 2-inch LCD, we recommend using CIF or VGA resolutions due to processing and bandwidth constraints.
Q: Where can I find the schematic and pinout diagram?
A: All technical resources, including schematics, datasheets, and detailed pinout diagrams, are available on the Waveshare Wiki page dedicated to this specific ESP32-S3 LCD model.
Q: Does this board support MicroPython out of the box?
A: Yes, the ESP32-S3 chip fully supports MicroPython. You will need to flash the latest MicroPython firmware binary suitable for ESP32-S3 devices, which is available on the official MicroPython website.
Q: Is the touchscreen multi-touch capable?
A: The GT911 controller on this board supports multi-touch gestures, but the default demo code and many libraries often implement single-touch functionality. Multi-touch can be enabled with custom driver configuration.
Q: Can I power this board with a 3.7V LiPo battery directly?
A: You should not connect a LiPo battery directly to the USB or 5V pins without a charging circuit. You can connect a 3.7V LiPo to the BAT pins if your specific board revision includes a charging IC, or use an external regulator to feed the 5V pin.
