Solid performance, minor documentation gaps
The hardware quality is excellent and the chip runs at full speed without heating issues. I deducted one star because the included PDF manual was a bit sparse, but online communities fill the gap easily.

Good board, check your voltage regulator
Functionality is top-notch. Just be careful if you plan to power it via the 5V pin; ensure your source is stable. Otherwise, the 3.3V output is clean and reliable for sensors.

Perfect for learning ARM architecture
This board is exactly what I needed to start my embedded systems journey. The pinout is clearly marked, and it works flawlessly with the Arduino IDE and STM32CubeIDE. Great value for the price.

Great for motor control projects

Best budget development board
I bought five of these for my university project group. All of them worked out of the box. The USB bootloader makes uploading code incredibly easy without needing an external programmer initially.

Exceeded expectations
As someone transitioning from AVR to ARM, this board made the switch smooth. The community support for the C8T6 variant is huge, so finding example code was never an issue.
Q: Can I power this board directly from a 9V battery?
A: No, please do not connect 9V directly to the VCC or 5V pins. The onboard regulator supports input typically between 3.3V and 5V (via USB or VIN depending on specific schematic revision). Exceeding 5.5V may damage the board.
Q: How much current can the 3.3V pin source?
A: The onboard LDO regulator can typically supply up to 200mA total for the board and external peripherals. For high-current devices, we recommend using an external power supply rather than drawing from the 3.3V pin.
Q: What debugger interface does this support?
A: The board exposes SWD (Serial Wire Debug) pins (CLK and DIO) which are compatible with ST-Link V2, J-Link, and other ARM debuggers. It does not have a built-in debugger chip on the PCB itself.
Q: Does this board come with a pre-installed bootloader?
A: Yes, most batches come with a generic USB bootloader pre-flashed, allowing you to program via USB without an external ST-Link debugger. However, we recommend verifying this upon receipt as firmware versions can vary.
Q: Is this compatible with the standard Arduino IDE?
A: Absolutely. You can use the Arduino IDE by installing the STM32duino board package. Once configured, you can select the 'Generic STM32F103C series' and upload code just like a standard Arduino.
