Solid build quality
We deployed ten of these in our makerspace. They are durable and the thermal management is adequate even under continuous load. Wish it had Gigabit Ethernet, but WiFi works fine for our needs.

Smooth Debian experience
Flashed the official Debian image and it ran out of the box. Network stability is impressive for such a small board. Highly recommended for server-lite applications.

Excellent for educational robotics
I bought this for a student workshop. The form factor is small enough to fit inside our custom robot chassis, and the quad-core CPU handles motor control and camera input simultaneously without lag.

Great value, minor documentation gaps
For the price, you cannot beat the performance. It boots quickly and handles Python scripts well. I deducted one star because some advanced peripheral setup instructions were hard to find.
Q: Does the WiFi module support 5GHz bands?
A: No, the integrated WiFi module on the ROCK PI S0 only supports 2.4GHz bands (802.11 b/g/n). It does not support 5GHz networks.
Q: Does this board support PoE (Power over Ethernet)?
A: No, the ROCK PI S0 does not have an Ethernet port or native PoE support. It is powered via USB Type-C or GPIO headers.
Q: Can I run Docker containers on this device?
A: Yes, lightweight Docker containers can run on the ROCK PI S0, provided you use a Linux distribution like Debian or Ubuntu. However, due to the 256MB RAM, resource usage must be carefully managed.
Q: What is the maximum resolution supported for display output?
A: Via the MIPI DSI interface, it supports displays up to 1280x720. HDMI output requires an active adapter and typically supports up to 1080p depending on the adapter used.
Q: Is the GPIO pinout fully compatible with Raspberry Pi HATs?
A: The 40-pin header follows the Raspberry Pi physical layout and voltage levels, making it compatible with many HATs. However, software compatibility depends on the specific HAT drivers.
