Excellent value for money
For the price, you cannot beat this 5MP module. It arrived well-packaged, and the cable length is sufficient for most prototype enclosures. Works great for object detection demos.

Reliable for industrial prototyping
We used several of these for a student robotics project. The low-light performance is decent, and the frame rate at 1080p is stable. No driver issues on our Linux-based controller.

Great sensor, manual focus needed
The OV5640 sensor provides excellent color reproduction. Just note that you need to manually adjust the focus upon arrival, which took a few minutes but resulted in sharp images.

Good documentation support
The hardware is solid. I appreciated that the pinout matches standard layouts, making it easy to wire up. Deducting one star only because the lens cap feels a bit flimsy.

Perfect for FPGA projects
This module works flawlessly with my Xiao Meige board. The image quality is crisp, and the DVP interface was easy to implement in Verilog. Highly recommended for embedded vision tasks.

Sharp images right out of the box
Impressed by the clarity of the images. The automatic exposure works well in varying lighting conditions. A must-have component for anyone working with FPGA development boards.
Q: Does this module support MIPI interface or only DVP?
A: The OV5640 sensor supports both interfaces, but this specific breakout board is configured primarily for DVP output to ensure compatibility with the Xiao Meige FPGA board. MIPI pins are present but may require specific configuration.
Q: Is a separate power regulator needed for the 2.8V analog supply?
A: Yes, while the logic runs on 3.3V, the analog section requires a clean 2.8V supply. Most FPGA boards have an onboard LDO for this, but please verify your specific board's schematic.
Q: Are sample Verilog codes available for the Xiao Meige board?
