Reliable and Fast
I've purchased ten of these for a home automation project. All of them connected to my network immediately. The Lua and Arduino IDE support is robust. Shipping was fast too.

Perfect for IoT Prototyping
This NodeMCU board works flawlessly right out of the box. The built-in USB-to-serial converter makes uploading sketches incredibly easy without needing extra hardware. Great value for the price.

Excellent build quality from Ai-Thinker
The soldering joints are clean and the CH340 driver installed instantly on Windows 10. The antenna range is surprisingly good for such a small form factor. Will buy again.

Solid performance, runs a bit warm
Does exactly what it says. I noticed it gets moderately warm when transmitting data continuously over long periods, but nothing concerning. Just ensure you have some airflow if running 24/7.

Great board, minor pin labeling confusion
The performance is excellent and Wi-Fi connectivity is stable. My only complaint is that the pin labels on the silkscreen can be slightly confusing for beginners mapping GPIO numbers to physical pins. Otherwise, highly recommended.

Best starter board for WiFi projects
As someone new to embedded systems, this board was very forgiving. Plenty of tutorials online specifically for the ESP-12F module. It handles multiple client connections without crashing.
Q: Does this come with headers pre-soldered?
A: Yes, this specific model comes with male headers pre-soldered, so it is ready to plug into a breadboard immediately upon arrival.
Q: Is this board compatible with the Arduino IDE?
A: Yes, this NodeMCU ESP8266 board is fully compatible with the Arduino IDE. You simply need to install the ESP8266 board manager package in your preferences.
Q: Can I power sensors directly from the 3.3V pin?
A: Yes, but please be careful with current consumption. The onboard regulator can typically handle up to 600mA total, but it is safer to keep external load under 200mA to prevent overheating.
Q: What is the maximum flash memory size supported?
A: This board features the ESP-12F module which has 4MB of Flash memory built-in. This cannot be expanded externally on this specific board layout.
Q: What voltage should I apply to the VIN pin?
A: You can supply 5V DC to the VIN pin or via the Micro-USB port. The onboard regulator will step this down to the required 3.3V for the ESP8266 chip.
