Perfect drop-in replacement for STM32 projects
I was worried about switching from STM32 to GD32, but this board made the transition seamless. The pinout matches exactly, and my existing code compiled with minor adjustments to the startup files. Great value for money.

Best budget Cortex-M4 board available
Compared to other boards in this price range, the feature set is unbeatable. The extra RAM is very helpful for buffer-heavy applications. Highly recommended for robotics enthusiasts.

Solid performance, good documentation
The 120MHz clock speed is a nice upgrade over the standard F103. The integrated debugger works well with OpenOCD. Only giving 4 stars because the silk screen labeling on some pins is a bit faint.

Excellent for learning embedded systems
Bought this for my university final year project. It's affordable and powerful enough to handle motor control and sensor fusion algorithms. The community support for GD32 is growing fast too.

Great hardware, minor IDE setup quirks
The hardware itself is fantastic. Had to spend a little time configuring the Keil device pack initially, but once set up, debugging is smooth. Fast delivery and well-packaged.

Reliable for prototyping industrial controls
We use these boards for initial prototyping before moving to custom PCBs. The stability has been impressive during long-run tests. No overheating issues even under heavy PWM load.
Q: Is this board fully compatible with STM32CubeMX?
A: While STM32CubeMX does not natively support GD32 chips yet, you can generate code for the equivalent STM32F103VET6 and then modify the startup file and system clock configuration to work with the GD32F303. Many users also utilize the GD32-specific device packs provided by GigaDevice.
Q: What is the difference between GD32F303 and STM32F103?
A: The GD32F303 generally offers a higher maximum frequency (up to 120MHz vs 72MHz) and faster flash access compared to the STM32F103. They are pin-to-pin compatible, but register-level differences exist, requiring slight code modifications.
Q: Can I power this board with 3.3V directly?
A: It is recommended to power the board via the 5V USB port or the 5V VIN pin, as the onboard regulator will step it down to 3.3V for the MCU. Applying 3.3V directly to the 5V pin may not provide sufficient voltage for the regulator to function correctly.
Q: Is the JTAG interface accessible on the headers?
A: Yes, the standard JTAG/SWD pins are broken out on the 2x5 header next to the USB port, allowing you to use external debuggers if you prefer not to use the onboard CMSIS-DAP.
