Perfect for robotics projects
This board made implementing FOC on my custom robot arm incredibly easy. The SimpleFOC library integration is seamless, and the sensorless mode works surprisingly well at low speeds.

Impressive flux linkage estimation
The flux linkage feature is a game changer for sensorless operation. I was able to achieve stable position control without an encoder, which saved me space in my design.

Solid performance under load
Running a 200W motor at continuous load for hours without overheating. The thermal management is adequate. Only wish it had a built-in current display for quick debugging.

Ideal for learning FOC

Great value but needs tuning
Excellent hardware for the price. It took some time to tune the PID parameters for my specific motor, but once configured, the torque control is very smooth. Documentation could be slightly more detailed.
Q: Can I power this directly from a 24V battery?
A: Absolutely. The board accepts a wide input voltage range from 12V to 24V DC, making it compatible with standard 24V battery packs.
Q: Does it come with a heatsink?
A: The board includes a basic aluminum heatsink attached to the MOSFETs. For high-current applications above 4A continuous, we recommend adding active cooling or a larger external heatsink.
Q: Does this board support absolute encoders?
A: Yes, the G431 supports both incremental and absolute encoders via the SPI interface when using the SimpleFOC library.
Q: What is the minimum speed for stable sensorless operation?
A: Stable sensorless operation typically begins around 50-100 RPM depending on the motor inductance and back-EMF constant, though the flux linkage algorithm improves low-speed performance significantly.
Q: Is the source code for the firmware open?
A: The hardware is fully open, and it is designed to work with the open-source SimpleFOC library. You can write and upload your own firmware using the Arduino IDE or STM32CubeIDE.
