Great value for money
As a student, this offers way more power than competitors at a similar price point. The learning curve is steep if you are new to Rockchip, but worth it.

Solid hardware, documentation needs work
The hardware is top-notch with plenty of I/O options. However, finding specific pinout diagrams for some peripheral interfaces took some digging in the wiki.

Reliable for industrial prototyping
We are using these for initial prototyping of an industrial control unit. The temperature stability and extended interface options are exactly what we needed.
Q: Can I run Docker containers on this device?
A: Yes, the RK3588S architecture supports Docker. You can install Docker Engine on the Ubuntu or Debian images provided on our official wiki.
Q: Does this board support PoE (Power over Ethernet)?
A: The standard Firefly Luban Cat 4 does not have built-in PoE. However, there is a dedicated header on the PCB that allows you to connect an external PoE HAT module easily.
Q: Does the package include a cooling fan or heatsink?
A: The standard kit includes a large aluminum heatsink. A cooling fan is sold separately, though we highly recommend adding one for sustained AI workloads to prevent thermal throttling.
Q: Is the NPU compatible with TensorFlow Lite?
A: Yes, the 6 TOPS NPU is fully compatible with TensorFlow Lite and PyTorch models via the RKNN Toolkit. We provide conversion tools and example repositories on GitHub.
Q: What is the maximum resolution supported for dual display output?
A: The board can drive two independent displays simultaneously. It supports up to 8K@60Hz on one HDMI port and 4K@60Hz on the second display interface (MIPI or second HDMI depending on configuration).
