Perfect for learning EtherCAT
This board made setting up my first EtherCAT slave node incredibly easy. The CiA 402 profile implementation is solid, and the documentation helped me get the STM32F407 running with TwinCAT in under an hour.

Solid choice for prototyping
Works well with Beckhoff masters. The onboard LEDs are very helpful for debugging connection states. Would love to see a version with isolated I/O in the future.

Great hardware, minor docs issue
The LAN9252 chip works flawlessly and the build quality is excellent. I deducted one star because the example code for the analog inputs was slightly outdated, but support helped me fix it quickly.
Q: What is the maximum EtherCAT cycle time supported?
A: While dependent on your master configuration and network load, the LAN9252 controller on this board supports cycle times as low as 100 microseconds in optimal conditions.
Q: Are there libraries available for Arduino IDE?
A: Currently, we provide full support and libraries for STM32CubeIDE and Keil MDK. There is no official Arduino IDE support due to the real-time requirements of the EtherCAT stack, but community ports may exist.
Q: Is this board compatible with Beckhoff TwinCAT 3?
A: Yes, this board is fully compatible with Beckhoff TwinCAT 3. It includes an ESI (EtherCAT Slave Information) XML file that allows TwinCAT to automatically recognize and configure the device.
Q: Does the board come with pre-flashed firmware?
A: The board comes with a basic demo firmware that echoes digital inputs to outputs. However, to utilize the full CiA 402 drive profile features, you will need to compile and flash your own application code using the provided SDK.
Q: Can I power this board directly from a 24V industrial supply?
A: No, the logic circuitry requires 5V. You must use a 24V to 5V converter or supply 5V directly to the USB or terminal block. Applying 24V directly to the 5V input will damage the board.
