Great value, minor pin labeling issue
The performance of the C3 chip is impressive for the price. My only complaint is that the silk screen labeling on the back is a bit small to read without a magnifier. Otherwise, it works flawlessly with ESP-IDF.

Good Bluetooth range
Using this for a BLE sensor project. The signal strength is surprisingly good even through walls. It runs cool even after hours of operation. Would give 5 stars if it came with pre-soldered headers.

Best budget dev board
We switched our entire club to these boards from the older ESP8266 models. The dual-band support and better security features make it future-proof. Excellent product for the price point.

Solid build quality
I've bought several of these for my classroom. They are robust, connect reliably, and the RISC-V architecture is a great teaching tool. Students love the fast compile times compared to older boards.

Perfect for IoT beginners

Easy to set up
As someone new to microcontrollers, I was worried about drivers. This board was recognized immediately by my computer. The example codes ran right out of the box. Very satisfied with this purchase.
Q: What is the maximum current draw per GPIO pin?
A: Each GPIO pin can source or sink up to 40mA. However, the total current for all ports combined should not exceed specific limits outlined in the Espressif datasheet to avoid damaging the chip.
Q: Can I power this board with a 3.7V LiPo battery directly?
A: No, you should not connect a LiPo battery directly to the 5V or 3.3V pins. Please use a dedicated TP4056 charging module or a regulator circuit to ensure safe voltage levels.
Q: Are the pin headers pre-soldered?
A: No, this minimalist version ships with unsoldered pin headers to allow for flexible mounting options. You will need to solder them yourself or use female-to-female jumper wires with a breadboard.
Q: Does this board support MicroPython?
A: Yes, the ESP32-C3 is fully compatible with MicroPython. You can flash the firmware using esptool.py and start coding in Python immediately.
Q: Is an external antenna required for Wi-Fi?
A: No, the board features a built-in PCB antenna that provides sufficient range for most indoor applications. An external antenna connector is not available on this specific minimalist model.
