Perfect for IoT Prototyping
This board is incredibly versatile. The dual-core architecture handles WiFi and Bluetooth tasks smoothly without lagging. Setup with the Arduino IDE was straightforward after installing the specific board manager URL.

Reliable for control systems
We integrated these into a small batch of industrial monitoring nodes. They have been running continuously for three months without crashes. The only downside is the limited number of PWM pins available.

Solid connectivity range
I tested the WiFi range in a two-story house, and it maintained a stable connection much better than my previous ESP-based boards. The Bluetooth 5.0 pairing is also very fast.

Great value, minor documentation gaps
Hardware quality is excellent for the price point. The RTL8720DN chip performs well in low-power modes. However, some of the advanced peripheral examples in the official docs could be more detailed.

Ideal for university projects

A: Absolutely. The RTL8720DN chipset supports OTA firmware updates via WiFi, which is essential for deployed IoT devices that need remote maintenance.
Q: Can I use this module without the development board carrier?
A: Yes, the core module is available separately or can be desoldered. It uses a standard castellation layout, allowing you to design your own custom PCB carrier if needed.
Q: Is there a MicroPython firmware available for this board?
A: Yes, community-built MicroPython ports are available for the RTL8720DN. You can find the latest builds and flashing instructions on our GitHub repository linked in the product description.
Q: Is this board compatible with the standard Arduino IDE?
A: Yes, the BW16-Kit is fully compatible with the Arduino IDE. You simply need to add the Realtek Ameba board manager URL to your preferences and install the corresponding package.
Q: What is the maximum current output for the 3.3V pin?
A: The onboard LDO regulator can supply up to 500mA, but we recommend drawing no more than 300mA from the 3.3V pin to ensure stability during WiFi transmission spikes.
