Best budget BLE dev board
As a student, this was the most affordable way to get into Bluetooth Low Energy development with RISC-V. Compiling and flashing code takes seconds. Highly recommended for university projects.

Solid hardware, software maturing
The silicon is robust and handles RF interference well. The SDK has improved significantly in the last year. Just be prepared to read the reference manual closely if you need deep peripheral customization.

Great value, minor doc gaps
Hardware quality is solid and the BLE stack works well out of the box. Some register definitions in the header files could be better commented, but overall it's a fantastic board for the price point.

We equipped our entire workshop with these boards. They are durable enough for students and powerful enough for advanced prototyping. The USB-C connector is a great modern touch.

Perfect for RISC-V learning
This board is incredibly easy to set up. The integrated debugger saves so much space and money compared to buying a separate programmer. Documentation from the manufacturer is decent, and the community support is growing fast.

Low power performance is impressive
I tested this for a battery-powered sensor node project. The sleep currents are extremely low, exactly as specified in the datasheet. The 2.4G proprietary mode is a nice bonus for non-BLE applications.
Q: Is it compatible with Arduino IDE?
A: While primarily designed for MounRiver Studio and Keil, there are community-maintained packages that allow programming via Arduino IDE. However, for full feature access, we recommend using the official SDK.
Q: Does it support 5V logic levels directly?
A: No, the CH573F/582F operates at 3.3V logic levels. If you need to interface with 5V devices, you must use a logic level converter to prevent damaging the microcontroller.
Q: Can I use this for over-the-air (OTA) updates?
A: Absolutely. The bootloader supports OTA updates via BLE, which is very useful for deployed IoT devices. Sample code for OTA implementation is included in the standard SDK.
Q: Does this board come with an antenna included?
A: Yes, the board features an onboard PCB trace antenna suitable for general development. There is also a U.FL connector available if you need to attach an external high-gain antenna.
Q: What is the maximum current output on the GPIO pins?
A: Each GPIO pin can source or sink up to 20mA. Please ensure your total current consumption across all pins does not exceed the chip's overall limits to avoid damage.
