Robust design for prototyping
We bought five of these for our makerspace. They have survived multiple wiring mistakes by beginners thanks to the protection circuits. The digital control aspect is a great teaching point.

Excellent stability under load
I tested this with various loads up to 2.5A and the voltage regulation remained stable. The buck-boost transition is smooth. A fantastic tool for university labs.

Great hardware, steep learning curve
The build quality is solid and the components are genuine. However, if you are new to STM32, be prepared to spend some time reading the documentation. Once set up, it works flawlessly.

Good value for money
For the price, you get a lot of functionality. The rotary encoder feels a bit light, but it gets the job done. The ability to program custom control loops via STM32 is the real winner here.

Ideal for academic projects
I use this in my senior design course. It allows students to experiment with PID tuning and digital power supply concepts without building everything from scratch. Very satisfied.

Perfect for learning power electronics
This board is exactly what I needed to understand bidirectional converters. The STM32 code is well-commented, and the OLED display makes monitoring voltage and current very easy. Highly recommended for students.
Q: Can this board charge a battery while powering a load?
A: Yes, due to its bidirectional nature, it can manage power flow between a source and a battery. However, you must implement the specific charging algorithm (like CC/CV) in the STM32 firmware yourself.
Q: Can I control the output voltage remotely via PC?
A: Absolutely. The board features a UART interface. You can connect it to a PC using a USB-to-TTL adapter and send commands to adjust voltage, current limits, and read telemetry.
Q: Is a heatsink included or required for 3A output?
A: The PCB has generous copper pours for thermal management. For continuous operation at 3A, we recommend adding a small clip-on heatsink to the MOSFETs, which are not included but fit standard TO-220 packages.
Q: What is the switching frequency of the converter?
A: The default switching frequency is set to 100kHz in the demo firmware, but since it is digitally controlled by the STM32, you can reconfigure this in the software to suit your specific inductor and capacitor choices.
Q: Does this board come with pre-flashed firmware?
A: Yes, the board comes with basic demo firmware that allows immediate operation via the OLED menu. Source code is available for download to modify or learn from.
