Good for learning
Bought this for an educational kit about fire safety. It demonstrates infrared detection well. Not for industrial use but great for learning.

Sensitive and reliable
Detects candle flame from a good distance. Just be careful with sunlight interference. Good value for the price.

Great for Arduino projects
Works perfectly with my Arduino Uno. Sensitivity is adjustable via the potentiometer. Used it for a safety shutdown system prototype.

Solid module
The comparator chip works well. I had to tweak the threshold slightly but once set, it was consistent. Shipping was fast.
Q: What is the maximum current draw?
A: The module typically draws around 20mA when active. Please refer to the datasheet for specific load conditions.
Q: Does this come with connecting wires?
A: This package includes the module and pin headers. Jumper wires are sold separately.
Q: Is the detection distance fixed?
A: No, you can adjust the sensitivity using the onboard potentiometer to change the effective detection range.
Q: Can this be used with a Raspberry Pi?
A: Yes, this module operates at 3.3V to 5V, so it is compatible with Raspberry Pi GPIO pins.
Q: Does it work in direct sunlight?
A: Direct sunlight contains infrared light which may trigger false positives. We recommend testing in your specific environment or using a shield.
