Great quality, slightly stiff at first
The craftsmanship is evident. The brush was a bit stiff out of the package but softened nicely after the first wash. Now it writes beautifully for Ou Yangxun scripts.

Perfect for practicing Yan style
These brushes have incredible spring. The mixed hair holds a lot of ink without dripping, making my long strokes in Yan Zhenqing style much smoother. Highly recommended for serious beginners.
Q: How should I clean and store these brushes after practice?
A: Rinse thoroughly with clean water until the water runs clear, reshape the tip gently, and hang the brush upside down or lay it flat to dry. Avoid leaving it standing on its bristles.
Q: Do these brushes need to be soaked before the first use?
A: Yes, please soak the brush head in lukewarm water for a few minutes to remove the protective glue and soften the hairs before your first use.
Q: Can these brushes be used with colored ink or only black sumi ink?
A: They work excellently with traditional black sumi ink. While you can use colored liquid inks, ensure they are not too thick to prevent clogging the fine tips.
Q: Is this set suitable for writing small regular script (Xiao Kai)?
A: This set features Large and Medium brushes, which are ideal for Middle and Large Regular Script. For Small Regular Script, we recommend our specific 'Small Kai' series brushes.
Q: What is the difference between this Tongchen series and the standard student series?
