Excellent quality hardware kit

The shade sail itself is sturdy, but I was most impressed by the stainless steel turnbuckles and hooks. They feel very solid and made tensioning the sail incredibly easy. No rust after two months of exposure to coastal air.

Great shade, instructions could be clearer

The fabric blocks the sun perfectly for my patio. The four-corner design fits my space well. I deducted one star because the installation guide was a bit vague on how to properly use the turnbuckles for maximum tension, but I figured it out eventually.

Good value for the price

For the price, you get a lot of quality. The turnbuckles allow for precise tightening. Just make sure your anchor points are strong enough, as the tension can be quite high once fully installed.

Survived strong winds

We had some severe weather last week, and thanks to the secure fixed door buckles and proper tensioning with the turnbuckles, the sail didn't budge. Very happy with this purchase.

Q: Does this kit come with ropes or cables to attach to the wall?

A: This kit includes the turnbuckles, S-hooks, and fixed D-rings attached to the sail corners. However, it does not include the main extension ropes or cables needed to bridge the gap between the sail and your anchor points; these must be purchased separately based on your specific installation distance.

Q: Is the fabric waterproof or just water-resistant?

A: The HDPE fabric is designed to be breathable and water-permeable. It is not waterproof; rain will pass through the mesh. This design prevents wind uplift and avoids water pooling on the surface, but it will not create a completely dry area underneath during rainfall.

Q: Can I leave this up during the winter?

A: While the materials are durable, we recommend taking down the shade sail during harsh winter conditions, especially if you expect heavy snow or ice accumulation, as the weight can damage the fabric or the anchor points. The stainless steel hardware can remain installed.

Q: How far apart should the anchor points be?

A: The anchor points should be slightly further apart than the dimensions of the sail itself to allow room for the tensioning hardware (turnbuckles and hooks). Generally, adding 1.5 to 2 feet per side for the hardware setup is a good rule of thumb.

Q: What tools do I need to install the turnbuckles?

A: You will typically need a wrench or a pair of pliers to tighten the turnbuckles. Some users find that using two wrenches (one to hold the body and one to turn the eye) makes the tensioning process easier and more precise.
