Works well for RPM monitoring
I use this to monitor the RPM of a small DC motor. It gives consistent readings. The only minor issue is that the pin headers were not included soldered, but that's expected at this price.

Excellent for university projects

Good value but alignment is key
The sensor is sensitive and accurate once aligned properly. You need to be precise with the slot width for the encoder disk, but once set up, it counts pulses reliably. Great price point.

Perfect for my Arduino robot car
This module works flawlessly for measuring wheel speed. The response time is incredibly fast, and the TTL output connects directly to my microcontroller without extra components. Highly recommended for DIY robotics.

A: With a response time under 10 microseconds, it can accurately detect high-frequency pulses suitable for most small to medium DC motors in hobby applications.
Q: Can I use this outdoors?
A: It is designed for indoor or protected environments. Direct sunlight may interfere with the infrared beam, so shielding is recommended for outdoor use.
Q: Does it come with the slotted disk for the motor shaft?
A: No, this package includes only the photoelectric sensor module and pin headers. You will need to create or purchase a separate slotted encoder disk.
Q: Can this sensor work with a Raspberry Pi?
A: Yes, since the output is 3.3V-5V TTL compatible, it can be directly connected to the GPIO pins of a Raspberry Pi.
Q: Is the detection range adjustable?
A: The physical gap is fixed by the sensor housing design, but you can adjust the sensitivity slightly by modifying the comparator threshold if you are comfortable with electronics.
