Solid performance, documentation could be better
The hardware is excellent and very stable. The detection range is accurate as advertised. However, the UART command reference took some time to decipher. Once configured, it runs perfectly.

Incredible sensitivity for micro-motions
I was skeptical about detecting breathing, but this 60GHz module works flawlessly. It picks up subtle movements that PIR sensors completely miss. Great for my smart home automation project.

Best upgrade from PIR sensors
No more lights turning off while I'm reading still on the couch. This sensor detects my presence even when I am not moving much. Integration with ESP32 was straightforward.

High precision and reliable
Used this for a person-following robot prototype. The angle resolution is impressive, allowing the robot to track movement smoothly without jitter. Highly recommended for robotics applications.

Perfect for student projects
Bought five of these for our university lab. Students find them easy to interface with Arduino and Raspberry Pi. The ability to detect presence without cameras is a huge plus for privacy-focused projects.

Great value for industrial prototyping
We tested several modules and this Waveshare unit offered the best balance of price and performance. It handles interference well in our office environment. Deducting one star only because the cable isn't included.
Q: Can this sensor detect a person sitting still in a chair?
A: Yes, the 60GHz millimeter wave technology is specifically designed to detect micro-motions such as chest expansion from breathing, so it can detect a stationary person.
Q: Is this module compatible with 5V logic systems like Arduino Uno?
A: Yes, the module supports a supply voltage of 3.3V to 5V. However, please note that the UART TX pin is 3.3V logic level, so a level shifter is recommended when connecting to 5V MCUs for RX.
Q: What is the maximum detection distance for human presence?
A: Under ideal conditions, the maximum detection range for human micro-motion is approximately 12 meters. For larger body movements, the range can extend slightly further depending on the environment.
Q: How do I adjust the sensitivity and detection range?
A: You can configure parameters like sensitivity, blind zone, and detection range by sending specific UART commands to the module. Detailed command lists are available in the product wiki documentation.
Q: Does it work through glass or thin plastic enclosures?
A: Yes, 60GHz radar waves can penetrate non-metallic materials like plastic, glass, and wood. You can mount the sensor behind a decorative cover as long as it is not metal or thick concrete.
