Good sensor, needs calibration
The sensor is responsive, but you definitely need to spend time adjusting the potentiometer to avoid false triggers. Once set up, it's very reliable.

Reliable capacitive switch

Works well behind glass
Successfully used this behind a 3mm acrylic sheet. It detects touch perfectly. Just ensure your ground connection is solid for best performance.
