Great value for a dev kit
For the price, you get a lot of capability. The antenna design seems optimized well. My only minor complaint is that the sample code could use more comments, but the community forums helped me figure it out.

Perfect for non-intrusive monitoring

Works well but sensitive to interference
The sensor works as advertised, but we noticed some noise when placed near strong Wi-Fi routers. Shielding helped. Once isolated, the performance improved significantly. Good product, just be mindful of placement.

Impressive accuracy for respiration

Excellent for prototyping sleep trackers
This module is incredibly sensitive. I was able to detect breathing patterns from about 2 meters away with high accuracy. The documentation provided with the kit made integration with my ESP32 straightforward.

Good signal, needs calibration
The hardware quality is solid. It took a bit of time to calibrate the sensitivity settings to ignore minor movements like a ceiling fan, but once tuned, the heart rate detection is surprisingly stable for a non-contact sensor.
Q: Can this detect multiple people in the room simultaneously?
A: The R60ABD1 is primarily optimized for single-subject monitoring (e.g., one person in bed). While it can detect presence with multiple people, distinguishing individual heart rates for multiple subjects is limited.
Q: What is the power consumption in standby mode?
A: In low-power standby mode, the module consumes approximately 50mA. Active scanning modes will draw higher current depending on the configuration settings.
Q: Is there an SDK available for Python or Arduino?
A: Yes, we provide a C-based SDK which includes libraries compatible with Arduino IDE. For Python, you can use the UART interface to read data and process it using standard Python serial libraries.
Q: Does this module work through thin blankets or sheets?
A: Yes, millimeter-wave radar can generally penetrate thin fabrics like bed sheets and light blankets to detect breathing and movement effectively.
