Best sensor in this range
I have tried several MAX30102 modules, and this one has the most consistent readings. Shipping was fast and packaging protected the sensitive components well.

Solid performance
Works well for detecting pulse waves. Ambient light can interfere slightly, so ensure your casing blocks external light effectively. Overall very satisfied.

Good accuracy, needs calibration
The sensor reads data quickly. However, you need to calibrate it against a medical device if you want precise SpO2 readings. For hobbyist projects, it is more than sufficient.
Q: Does this come with a library for ESP32?
A: While we do not provide a proprietary library, this sensor is widely supported by the SparkFun MAX3010x Pulse Oximeter and Heart-Rate Sensor Library, which works perfectly with ESP32.
Q: What is the maximum sampling rate?
A: The MAX30102 supports sample rates up to 3200 Hz, though for typical heart rate and SpO2 applications, rates between 50 Hz and 100 Hz are commonly used to save power.
Q: Is this module compatible with Raspberry Pi?
A: Yes, the MAX30102 uses the I2C protocol, which is fully supported by Raspberry Pi GPIO pins. You will just need to enable the I2C interface in your system settings.
Q: Can this measure blood pressure?
A: No, this sensor is designed to measure heart rate and blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) using photoplethysmography. It cannot directly measure blood pressure.
Q: Is the LED brightness adjustable?
A: Yes, the LED current is programmable via software registers, allowing you to adjust the brightness from 0 to 25.6 mA to optimize signal quality and power consumption.
