Excellent for learning
Bought this for a university robotics project. The documentation online is plentiful, and the I2C interface makes it very easy to integrate. Highly recommended for students.

Best budget compass module
Compared to other modules in this price range, the QMC5883L offers superior noise performance. Shipping was fast, and the product arrived well-packaged.

Good accuracy, needs calibration
The sensor provides accurate heading data once calibrated properly. It took some time to get the soft iron distortion corrected, but now it works great on my DIY drone.

Solid performance
Works as expected. The update rate is fast enough for real-time applications. Just ensure you have pull-up resistors on your I2C lines if your board doesn't have them built-in.

Perfect for Arduino Projects
This module works flawlessly with my Arduino Uno. The library support is excellent, and the readings are stable after calibration. Great value for the price.
Q: Does this come with a library for ESP32?
A: While we do not provide a proprietary library, there are many open-source libraries available on GitHub and the Arduino IDE Library Manager that support the QMC5883L chip on ESP32.
Q: How do I calibrate the sensor?
A: Calibration typically involves rotating the sensor in a figure-eight pattern while running calibration software to calculate offset and gain values. Many example sketches for Arduino include a calibration routine.
Q: Is this module compatible with Raspberry Pi?
A: Yes, the GY-273 module uses the I2C protocol and operates at 3.3V or 5V, making it fully compatible with Raspberry Pi GPIO pins.
Q: Can I use this underwater?
A: The module itself is not waterproof. To use it underwater, you must house it in a waterproof enclosure that does not interfere with the magnetic field readings.
Q: What is the difference between this and the HMC5883L?
A: The QMC5883L is a pin-to-pin compatible alternative to the HMC5883L with similar performance characteristics but often at a more affordable price point. Code written for one usually works for the other with minor register adjustments.
