Fast shipping and works great
Arrived quickly and was well-packaged. Swapped it out in my custom-built purifier controller and it's been running for a week without issues.

Perfect drop-in replacement
My old sensor stopped working after two years of continuous use. This GP2Y1014AU fit perfectly into my existing air quality monitor setup without any code changes. Readings are consistent and stable.

Solid performance
The sensor responds well to particulate matter. Calibration took a few minutes to settle, but once it did, the data looks accurate compared to my reference meter.

Reliable for Arduino projects
Integrated this with an ESP32 for a home automation dashboard. The sensitivity to dust and smoke is impressive. It picks up cooking fumes almost instantly.

Good value, easy to install
Works exactly as described. The analog output is smooth. I deducted one star because the included cable was a bit short for my project enclosure, but that's a minor issue.

Restored my air monitor
I was worried about compatibility since the model number changed slightly from the original, but it works flawlessly. Great price compared to buying a whole new unit.
Q: Do I need to calibrate this sensor before use?
A: The sensor works out of the box, but for precise measurements, we recommend running it in clean air for a few minutes to establish a baseline zero point in your software code.
Q: Is this sensor compatible with 3.3V logic microcontrollers?
A: The sensor requires a 5V power supply. While the output is analog, if your microcontroller is 3.3V only, you may need a voltage divider or an op-amp circuit to safely read the output signal.
Q: Does this come with a library for Raspberry Pi?
A: This is an analog sensor, so it does not connect directly to the standard GPIO pins of a Raspberry Pi which are digital. You will need an external ADC (Analog-to-Digital Converter) like the MCP3008 to interface it.
Q: Can this detect cigarette smoke effectively?
A: Yes, the GP2Y1014AU is designed to detect fine particulate matter including smoke. It is quite sensitive to cigarette smoke and will show a rapid increase in output voltage when exposed.
Q: What is the expected lifespan of this sensor?
A: Under normal operating conditions with intermittent use, the sensor typically lasts 3 to 5 years. Continuous 24/7 operation may reduce this lifespan depending on the dust load in the environment.
