Solid industrial grade feel
The PCB looks professional and the screw terminals make connecting the PT100 probe very easy. Only wish it came with a probe included, but that's a minor issue.

Reliable for HVAC monitoring
I am using four of these to monitor temperatures in different rooms. They have been running 24/7 for two months without any drift or connection issues.

Fast SPI communication
The SPI interface is very fast. I can poll the sensor at high frequencies without lagging my main loop. Excellent choice for data logging applications.

Essential for my greenhouse controller
Accurate enough for controlling my heating system. The fault detection feature saved me when one of my wires got chewed by a mouse; the system alerted me immediately.

Good accuracy, needs calibration
Great sensor overall. I noticed a slight offset compared to my calibrated thermometer, but once I applied a software correction, it was spot on. Build quality is solid.

Perfect for Arduino projects
This module works flawlessly with my Arduino Uno. The library examples provided by Adafruit work right out of the box. Temperature readings are stable and consistent.
Q: Does this module support both PT100 and PT1000 sensors?
A: Yes, the MAX31865 module supports both PT100 and PT1000 sensors. You can select the sensor type via software configuration or by changing the resistor value on the board depending on the specific breakout version.
Q: Is this compatible with Raspberry Pi GPIO?
A: Yes, it is fully compatible with Raspberry Pi. Since it uses the SPI protocol, you just need to enable the SPI interface in the Raspi-config settings and connect the pins accordingly.
Q: Does the board come with a temperature probe included?
A: No, this listing is for the MAX31865 breakout board only. The PT100 or PT1000 probe must be purchased separately based on your specific temperature range and form factor requirements.
Q: What is the maximum wire length recommended for the RTD probe?
A: For best accuracy, keep the wire length under 10 meters. If you need longer runs, we recommend using shielded twisted-pair cables to minimize noise interference.
Q: Can I daisy-chain multiple modules on one SPI bus?
A: Yes, you can connect multiple modules to the same SPI bus (MISO, MOSI, SCLK) as long as each module has its own dedicated Chip Select (CS) pin connected to a unique GPIO pin on your microcontroller.
