Great value, needs warm-up
Works well with Arduino Uno. Just remember it needs a minute to warm up before readings stabilize. The adjustable sensitivity knob is very useful for calibrating false alarms.

Good sensitivity range
Detection range is impressive for the price point. I had to tweak the potentiometer slightly to ignore ambient humidity, but once set, it works flawlessly.

Son loves it
My son used this to build a kitchen safety robot. It was easy to integrate with his existing LEGO setup. The documentation provided by the seller was also helpful.

Perfect for LEGO Robotics Projects
This sensor fits perfectly into my LEGO Mindstorms EV3 creations. The PH2.0 connector prevents accidental reverse polarity, which has saved my board before. Detects cooking gas leaks reliably during testing.

Excellent for Classroom Demos
Bought five of these for our high school robotics club. Students love the plug-and-play nature with LEGO bricks. Safe and effective for demonstrating gas detection principles.

Robust and Reliable
The anti-reverse feature is a game changer for beginners. The module is sturdy and the LEDs provide clear visual feedback. Highly recommended for DIY safety projects.
Q: Does this work directly with LEGO Mindstorms NXT?
A: Yes, it is compatible with NXT, but you may need a simple adapter cable depending on your specific brick port configuration, as it uses the standard PH2.0 interface.
Q: How do I adjust the sensitivity?
A: There is a blue potentiometer on the board. Use a small screwdriver to turn it clockwise to increase sensitivity or counter-clockwise to decrease it while exposing the sensor to test gas.
Q: Can I use this outdoors?
A: While it can function outdoors, wind and rapid temperature changes may affect sensitivity. It is best suited for indoor or sheltered environments for accurate readings.
Q: Is the cable included in the package?
A: Yes, the module comes with a short PH2.0 connection cable compatible with most standard sensor ports used in educational robotics kits.
Q: What specific gases does the MQ-4 detect?
A: The MQ-4 is primarily sensitive to methane (CH4) and natural gas. It also has some sensitivity to LPG and propane, making it ideal for home leak detection simulations.
