Good for learning electronics
Bought this for a university project. Documentation online is plentiful, and the module performed exactly as described in the datasheet.

Great value, minor noise floor
For the price, this module is unbeatable. The automatic gain is smooth. There is a slight hiss when no sound is present, but it's acceptable for hobbyist applications.

Perfect for Arduino voice projects
The AGC feature works flawlessly. Whether I whisper or speak loudly, the output volume remains consistent. Very easy to interface with my microcontroller.

The attack and release times are well-tuned. It handles sudden loud noises without clipping too harshly. Great little sensor.

A: Absolutely. The MAX9814 operates from 2.7V to 5.5V, making it fully compatible with 3.3V logic systems.
Q: Is the output digital or analog?
A: The output is an analog audio signal. You will need an ADC (Analog-to-Digital Converter) on your microcontroller to process the data digitally.
Q: Does this module come with a microphone attached?
A: Yes, the module includes a small electret condenser microphone soldered directly onto the board.
Q: What is the frequency response range?
A: The module is optimized for voice frequencies, typically covering roughly 100Hz to 10kHz, which is ideal for speech recognition and sound detection.
Q: How do I change the gain setting?
A: There are three pads on the PCB labeled GAIN. You need to solder a bridge between specific pads to select 40dB, 50dB, or 60dB. Please refer to the pinout diagram in the product manual.
