Good sensitivity, needs calibration

The module is sensitive and responsive. You do need to adjust the potentiometer on the back to get the threshold right for your specific container thickness, but once set, it's stable.

Works well on plastic bottles

I tested this on various plastic containers. It works great on thinner walls. On very thick industrial plastic, the sensitivity drops a bit, but still usable with adjustment.

Saved my final year project

Easy to integrate with Arduino

Great value for money

Perfect for my aquarium project

This sensor works exactly as described. I mounted it outside my glass tank and it detects the water level instantly without any wires touching the water. Very safe and reliable.

5 FAQ

Q: How do I adjust the detection sensitivity?

A: There is a small blue potentiometer on the back of the PCB. Use a small screwdriver to turn it clockwise or counter-clockwise while testing to set your desired trigger point.

Q: Is the output analog or digital?

A: The standard output is digital (HIGH/LOW). However, some versions may allow analog reading if you tap into the comparator circuit, but out of the box, it functions as a switch.

Q: Does it work with oils or only water?

A: It works with various liquids including oils, provided the liquid has a dielectric constant different from air and the container is non-metallic. Sensitivity may vary by liquid type.

Q: Can this sensor detect water inside a metal tank?

A: No, this is a capacitive sensor designed for non-metallic containers like glass, plastic, or ceramic. Metal containers will interfere with the capacitance reading.

Q: What is the maximum wall thickness it can penetrate?

A: Generally, it works best with container walls up to 10mm thick, depending on the material density. Thinner walls provide more consistent results.
