Good quality, easy to wire
Very straightforward to connect to my microcontroller. The output is clean and responsive. I deducted one star because the included pins were slightly bent, but nothing a quick fix couldn't solve.

Excellent obstacle avoidance performance
I was worried about sunlight interference, but these hold up well indoors and even in shaded outdoor areas. The detection range is consistent once calibrated.

Bought 20 for our school club
We used these for a student competition. Every single module worked out of the box. They are robust enough to handle being mounted and remounted by beginners repeatedly.

Perfect for my Arduino robot car
These sensors work flawlessly for line tracking. The sensitivity adjustment is very precise, allowing me to tune it perfectly for black tape on a white floor. Great value for the price.

Solid basic sensor
Does exactly what it says on the tin. It's a standard reflective IR pair. Don't expect long-range detection, but for close-proximity tasks like line following, it is ideal.
Q: Can I use this underwater?
A: No, this module is not waterproof. The electronic components and open PCB design will be damaged by water. It is designed for dry, indoor, or protected outdoor use only.
Q: What is the maximum current draw for this module?
A: The typical current consumption is around 20mA when the IR LED is active. Please ensure your microcontroller pin or power source can supply at least 30mA to be safe.
Q: Can this sensor detect clear glass objects?
A: Infrared reflective sensors generally struggle with transparent materials like clear glass because the IR light passes through rather than reflecting back. It works best on opaque surfaces.
Q: How do I adjust the detection distance?
A: There is a blue potentiometer on the board. Use a small screwdriver to turn it clockwise to increase sensitivity (longer range) or counter-clockwise to decrease it. Test while moving an object toward the sensor.
Q: Is the output compatible with 3.3V logic boards like ESP32?
A: Yes, the module operates between 3.3V and 5V. The digital output is compatible with 3.3V logic levels, so you can connect it directly to an ESP32 or Raspberry Pi GPIO.
