Good value but needs calibration
The module is solid and cheap. Out of the box, it was a bit too sensitive and triggered falsely, but after adjusting the two potentiometers on the back, it works great. Just take your time to calibrate it.

Easy to integrate
I used this for an automatic light switch project. The wiring is straightforward (VCC, GND, OUT), and there are plenty of libraries and tutorials online. The L-trigger mode is very useful for keeping the light on while motion persists.

Great for learning
As a student learning embedded systems, this was the perfect component to understand interrupt handling and digital inputs. It responds quickly to movement. Only wish the mounting holes were slightly larger.

Exceeded expectations
For the price, you cannot beat this sensor. It detects human heat signatures accurately without being fooled by pets (when angled correctly). The build quality feels durable enough for long-term prototyping.

Perfect for my security project
This PIR sensor works flawlessly with my Arduino Uno. The detection range is impressive, and the sensitivity adjustment potentiometer makes it easy to fine-tune for my specific room size. Highly recommended for beginners.
Q: Does this come with connecting wires?
A: The module typically comes with header pins pre-soldered or included in the bag, but jumper wires to connect it to your Arduino are usually sold separately depending on the specific vendor package.
Q: What is the difference between H and L trigger modes?
A: In 'H' (High) mode, the output stays high as long as motion is detected and then starts the delay timer after motion stops. In 'L' (Low) mode, the output goes high once when motion is first detected, stays high for the set delay time, and ignores further motion during that period.
Q: Why does the LED stay on for a few seconds after I stop moving?
A: This is due to the 'blockade time' (fixed at approx 2.5s) and the adjustable 'delay time'. The sensor needs a brief period to reset after a detection cycle before it can sense again, and the delay keeps the output active for your set duration.
Q: Can this sensor detect motion through a glass window?
A: No, PIR sensors detect infrared radiation emitted by warm bodies. Standard glass blocks most infrared radiation, so the sensor will not detect motion effectively through a closed glass window.
Q: Can I use this with a 3.3V microcontroller like ESP8266?
A: Yes, the operating voltage range is DC 3.3V to 5V, making it fully compatible with 3.3V logic microcontrollers like the ESP8266 or ESP32 without needing a level shifter.
