Superior to traditional PIR
Finally switched from PIR to millimeter-wave radar. The ability to detect stationary humans is a game changer for office occupancy monitoring. UART communication is stable and easy to parse.

Solid performance, minor latency
Overall very satisfied. There is a slight delay (about 1-2 seconds) when declaring 'no presence' after leaving the room, but this is configurable. The build quality feels robust for industrial prototyping.

Great value but needs careful calibration
For the price, this is an incredible sensor. Out of the box, it was a bit too sensitive to movement behind the wall, but after adjusting the gain settings in the PC tool, it works perfectly for my bathroom light automation.

Excellent sensitivity for smart home projects

A: Yes, unlike PIR sensors, the LD2410D uses millimeter-wave radar to detect micro-movements such as breathing and chest expansion, allowing it to identify stationary humans reliably.
Q: Is the output voltage 3.3V or 5V compatible?
A: The module operates on a 5V supply, and the UART TX/RX pins are TTL level. While it runs on 5V, the logic levels are generally compatible with 3.3V microcontrollers like ESP32, but a level shifter is recommended for long-term stability.
Q: Does it work through a plastic ceiling tile?
A: Yes, 24GHz mmWave signals can penetrate non-metallic materials like plastic, drywall, and wood. However, detection range may be slightly reduced depending on the thickness and density of the material.
