Reliable and Cheap
Bought five of these for different prototypes. All of them worked out of the box. The US-100 version seems slightly more stable than older models I have used.

Solid performance for education
We use these in our weekend workshops. They are durable enough to handle student errors and provide clear data for learning about sensors. One unit had a loose pin but was easily fixed.

Perfect for Arduino Robotics

Good accuracy, easy to wire
Used this for a university final year project. It was very easy to interface and provided stable readings within the specified range. Only minor issue is sensitivity to soft surfaces.

Exceeded expectations
The range is actually quite good up to 4 meters as advertised. Setup took less than 10 minutes including coding. Will definitely buy again for future projects.

Essential component for obstacle avoidance
My robot car navigates perfectly thanks to this module. The response time is fast enough for real-time obstacle detection. Highly recommended for beginners.
Q: What is the minimum detection distance?
A: The minimum measurable distance is approximately 2cm. Objects closer than this may not be detected accurately or at all.
Q: How do I power multiple sensors simultaneously?
A: You can power multiple sensors from the 5V pin if your total current draw does not exceed your microcontroller's limit. For more than 3-4 sensors, we suggest using an external 5V power source with a common ground.
Q: Is a library required for Arduino?
A: No specific library is strictly required as you can write the trigger and echo code manually using pulseIn(). However, many popular libraries like NewPing exist to simplify the process.
Q: Can I use this underwater?
A: No, this ultrasonic sensor is designed for air usage only. It is not waterproof and sound waves propagate differently in water, rendering it ineffective for underwater ranging.
Q: Does this module work with 3.3V logic levels directly?
A: The module operates at 5V. While the echo output is often 5V, we recommend using a voltage divider or a level shifter when connecting to 3.3V microcontrollers like some Raspberry Pi models to ensure safety.
