Perfect for Arduino Projects

This sensor works flawlessly with my Arduino Uno. The detection range is accurate, and the adjustment pots make it easy to fine-tune sensitivity and delay time. Great value for the price.

Great little module

Compact size makes it easy to hide inside enclosures. The pins are standard spacing which fits breadboards perfectly. Deducting one star because the included header pins were slightly bent upon arrival.

Excellent for learning electronics

Bought this for a university project on smart home systems. Documentation online is plentiful, and the module itself is robust. It detected motion reliably from about 6 meters away in my tests.

Works but has a warm-up time

It does what it says, but you have to wait about a minute after powering it on before it stabilizes. If you try to test it immediately, you will get false triggers. Otherwise, solid performance.

Reliable intrusion detection

Using these in a custom security setup. The L/H trigger modes are very useful depending on whether you want continuous signaling or a single pulse. Very happy with the build quality.

Good sensitivity, needs calibration

The module is very sensitive, perhaps too much out of the box. Once I adjusted the potentiometers, it worked perfectly for my hallway light automation. Just be patient during the initial warm-up period.

5 FAQ

Q: How long does the sensor need to warm up?

A: The sensor typically requires an initialization time of about 30 to 60 seconds after being powered on. During this time, it may output false signals or fail to detect motion.

Q: Does this work with Raspberry Pi GPIO pins directly?

A: Yes, since the output is 3.3V TTL compatible, it can be connected directly to Raspberry Pi GPIO pins without needing a logic level converter.

Q: What is the difference between L and H trigger modes?

A: In 'H' mode (default), the output stays high as long as motion is detected continuously. In 'L' mode, the output goes high once when motion is detected and stays high for the set delay time, ignoring further motion during that period.

Q: Can I adjust the detection distance?

A: Yes, there is a potentiometer labeled 'Distance' on the board. Turning it allows you to adjust the effective detection range from approximately 3 meters up to 7 meters.

Q: Can this sensor detect motion through glass?

A: No, infrared radiation cannot pass through standard glass effectively. The sensor needs a direct line of sight or an opening in the enclosure to detect body heat.
