Perfect for robotics projects
This sensor is incredibly accurate for its size. I used it on my line-following robot to detect obstacles, and the response time via PWM is very fast. Setup with Arduino was straightforward using the standard libraries.

Compact and reliable

Exceeded expectations

Solid performance for proximity detection
Using it to trigger an automatic gate mechanism. It handles outdoor ambient light better than IR sensors, though direct sunlight can still interfere. Overall, a robust choice for the price.

Great value, minor range limitations
Works exactly as described. Keep in mind that the 2-meter range is only achievable with highly reflective targets in good lighting. For black objects, the range drops significantly, but that is physics, not a fault of the module.
Q: Can multiple sensors be used on the same I2C bus?
A: Yes, but since they share the same default I2C address, you must programmatically change the address of each sensor individually using the XSHUT pin during initialization.
Q: Is the voltage 5V tolerant?
A: No, the VL53L0X chip operates between 2.6V and 3.5V. If you are using a 5V microcontroller like a standard Arduino Uno, you must use a logic level converter or an LDO regulator.
Q: Can this sensor work in complete darkness?
A: Yes, since it uses its own 940nm laser source, it does not require ambient light to function and works perfectly in total darkness.
Q: Does it come with header pins soldered?
A: No, the module usually ships with unsoldered header pins to allow for flexible mounting options. You will need to solder them yourself.
