Perfect for robotics projects
This sensor works flawlessly with my Arduino robot. The I2C interface is very easy to implement, and the readings are stable even in varying light conditions.

Excellent replacement part
Bought this to replace a faulty SRF02 in an old project. Pinout is compatible and it required zero changes to my existing code. Saved my project!

Good value but needs calibration
Great little module for the price. I had to do a bit of software calibration to get the distances spot-on, but once set up, it performs reliably.

Solid performance indoors
Works great for indoor automation tasks. Note that soft surfaces like fabric can sometimes absorb the ultrasonic waves, leading to occasional missed readings.

Easy to use for beginners
I found plenty of libraries online that support this specific model. Got it working within an hour of unboxing. Highly recommended for students.
Q: Does this come with jumper wires included?
A: The package includes the sensor module and a pin header strip. Jumper wires are not included but are standard components available separately.
Q: How does it perform in direct sunlight?
A: Ultrasonic sensors generally perform well in sunlight as they do not rely on light. However, extreme heat or strong wind outdoors can occasionally affect sound wave propagation and accuracy.
Q: Can this sensor be used directly with a 3.3V microcontroller?
A: Yes, the GY-US42 operates on a voltage range of 3.3V to 5.5V, making it fully compatible with 3.3V logic systems without needing a level shifter.
Q: Is there a library available for Python/Raspberry Pi?
A: Yes, since it supports I2C and UART, you can use standard Python libraries like smbus or pySerial. There are also several community-maintained GitHub repositories specifically for the GY-US42.
Q: What is the maximum update rate for distance measurements?
A: The sensor can provide updates at approximately 20Hz, though this may vary slightly depending on the interface mode (PWM vs Serial) and the distance to the target.
