Perfect for my robotic gripper project
These sensors are incredibly responsive and easy to integrate with an Arduino. The thin profile allowed me to fit them directly onto the gripper fingers without adding bulk. Calibration was straightforward using a simple voltage divider circuit.

Fast shipping and genuine product

Works well for student projects

Excellent linearity in the mid-range
I tested the 2kg version extensively. While there is some non-linearity at very low forces, the mid-range performance is excellent for detecting grasp intensity. Great for prototyping wearable haptic feedback systems.

Good value but requires careful handling
The sensor works exactly as described for force measurement. However, the flexible tail is quite delicate, so you need to be careful when soldering or connecting it to a ZIF connector. Once installed, it has been very reliable.

Standard industry component
This is the standard FSR model everyone uses for a reason. It's robust, cheap, and the documentation available online makes integration trivial. I've ordered the 5kg variant for a heavier duty application and it performs flawlessly.
Q: What is the difference between the 1kg, 2kg, and 5kg versions?
A: The difference lies in the saturation point and sensitivity curve. A 1kg sensor saturates at lower forces, offering higher resolution for light touches. The 5kg version handles heavier loads but is less sensitive to very light pressures. Choose based on your maximum expected force.
Q: What is the best way to interface this with a microcontroller?
A: The most common method is to use a voltage divider circuit. Connect one leg of the sensor to power, the other leg to an analog input pin, and place a fixed resistor (typically 10kΩ to 100kΩ depending on your force range) between the analog pin and ground.
Q: Can this sensor measure dynamic force changes or only static weight?
A: The FSR402/RFP602 is excellent for measuring dynamic force changes and impact. While it can measure static weight, prolonged constant pressure may cause slight signal drift. It is best suited for applications involving touch, squeeze, or impact detection.
Q: Can I solder wires directly to the silver tails?
A: Direct soldering is not recommended as high heat can delaminate the conductive layers. We strongly suggest using a dedicated ZIF (Zero Insertion Force) connector or conductive epoxy for a reliable and durable connection.
Q: Is the sensor waterproof or suitable for outdoor use?
A: The standard FSR402/RFP602 is not waterproof. The internal layers can be damaged by moisture. For outdoor or wet environments, you must encapsulate the sensor in a protective, flexible membrane or choose a specifically rated industrial version.
