Perfect for my robotic gripper project
This sensor is incredibly responsive and easy to integrate with an Arduino. The thin profile allowed me to fit it directly onto the gripper fingers without adding bulk. Calibration was straightforward using a simple voltage divider circuit.

Compact and reliable

Works well but requires filtering
The raw data can be a bit noisy, so I had to implement a moving average filter in my code. After that, the readings were stable and reliable. Great for touch interfaces where precise pressure matters.

Decent for prototyping
It serves its purpose for initial prototypes. The repeatability drifts slightly after thousands of cycles, which is expected for this price point. For final production, you might want something more rugged, but for testing, it's great.

Excellent value for money
I bought five of these for a university project. They all performed consistently. The linear response curve makes it easy to map pressure values to motor speed in our control loop. Highly recommended for students.

Good sensitivity, needs careful handling
The force detection is very accurate within the specified range. However, the flexible film is delicate, so you need to be careful during installation. Once mounted properly, it works flawlessly for detecting object presence.
Q: What microcontroller is compatible with this module?
A: Since it provides an analog output, it is compatible with any microcontroller that has an ADC (Analog-to-Digital Converter), such as Arduino Uno, ESP32, STM32, or Raspberry Pi with an external ADC hat.
Q: Does the package include a connector cable?
A: The standard package includes the sensor module only. You will need to purchase a compatible 0.5mm pitch FFC cable separately if your setup requires one.
Q: What is the maximum force before the sensor breaks?
A: While the measurable range is up to 20N, applying excessive force beyond 50N may permanently deform the thin film or damage the internal circuitry. We recommend staying within the rated operating range.
Q: How do I calibrate the sensor for weight measurement?
A: You can calibrate by placing known weights on the sensor and recording the corresponding analog voltage values. Then, create a lookup table or a regression formula in your code to convert voltage to weight.
Q: Can this sensor be used underwater?
A: No, the FSR402 is not waterproof. Exposure to moisture or liquids can damage the resistive elements and alter the readings. It should only be used in dry environments.
