Good accuracy, needs warm-up time
We used this for a prototype indoor air quality station. It requires about 3-5 minutes of warm-up before readings stabilize, but once running, it tracks formaldehyde spikes well during furniture off-gassing tests.

Solid performance for the price
The serial protocol is straightforward to parse. I appreciated the low power consumption in idle mode. Only minor issue is that high humidity can cause slight drift, but that is expected for electrochemical sensors.

Works well but sensitive to cross-gas
The sensor works as described for formaldehyde, but I noticed it reacts slightly to strong alcohol vapors. Make sure to place it away from cleaning supplies if you want pure CH2O readings. Otherwise, good hardware.

Compact and reliable

Exactly what I needed

Perfect for DIY Air Quality Monitors
This module integrated seamlessly with my ESP32 project. The UART output is stable and the readings seem consistent when compared to a professional meter. Documentation was clear enough to get started quickly.
Q: How often does the sensor need calibration?
A: For most DIY and general monitoring applications, factory calibration holds for the life of the sensor (approx. 2 years). For critical industrial safety applications, we recommend annual verification against a known standard.
Q: Does this module come with a cable or do I need to solder headers?
A: The module typically comes with pin headers pre-soldered, but no connecting cables are included. You will need to use jumper wires or solder your own connections depending on your setup.
Q: What is the baud rate for the UART communication?
A: The default baud rate for the ZE08-CH2O module is 9600 bps. This can sometimes be configured via specific command frames if your application requires a different speed.
Q: Is there a library available for Arduino?
