Great accuracy, tricky I2C address
Works flawlessly once configured. The only minor hurdle was changing the I2C address via UART first, but the documentation helped. Accuracy is spot on for flight stabilization.

Perfect for my self-balancing robot
The sensor fusion on this BNO055 module is incredible. It outputs stable quaternion data right out of the box, saving me hours of coding Kalman filters. Highly recommended for robotics projects.

Solid build quality
The PCB feels robust and the pinout is clearly labeled. Connected it to an ESP32 immediately and got data streaming within minutes. No calibration drift observed so far.

Good for head tracking prototypes
Using this for a low-cost VR headset prototype. The latency is low enough for basic tracking. Just ensure you have a stable power supply to avoid noise in the magnetometer readings.

Best IMU for the price
I've tried several 9DOF sensors, and this one offers the best balance of performance and ease of use. The built-in processing offloads a lot of work from my microcontroller.
Q: Is the magnetometer affected by nearby motors?
A: Like all magnetometers, it can be influenced by strong magnetic fields from motors. We recommend mounting the sensor away from high-current wires or using software compensation techniques.
Q: Does this module come with a library for Arduino?
A: Yes, there are several well-maintained open-source libraries available for Arduino, including the official Adafruit BNO055 library which works perfectly with this module.
Q: How long does the calibration take?
A: Calibration time varies by movement, but typically takes less than a minute. The sensor provides a real-time calibration status byte so you know exactly when it is ready.
Q: Can I run this on 5V logic without a level shifter?
A: The module includes a voltage regulator and level shifting circuitry, so it can safely interface with 5V microcontrollers like the Arduino Uno directly.
Q: What is the maximum sampling rate?
A: The BNO055 supports a data output rate of up to 100Hz for fusion data, which is sufficient for most human-scale motion tracking and robotic stabilization applications.
