Excellent documentation support

Solid industrial replacement
Replaced a faulty potentiometer in a throttle control system with this non-contact sensor. It eliminates wear and tear issues. Just ensure your voltage supply is stable for consistent readings.

High speed performance confirmed

Perfect for robotic joint feedback

Best magnetic encoder in this price range

Great value, minor alignment needed
The sensor works exactly as described. You do need to be careful with the mechanical alignment of the magnet to get the best accuracy, but once aligned, the 12-bit resolution provides very smooth data.
Q: Does this module work with 5V logic levels directly?
A: Yes, the AS5600 module supports 3.3V to 5.0V operation, so it is compatible with 5V microcontrollers like the standard Arduino Uno without needing a level shifter.
Q: Can I use this to measure linear position instead of rotation?
A: This sensor is designed specifically for angular measurement. While you could mechanically convert linear motion to rotation (e.g., using a rack and pinion), it does not measure linear displacement directly.
Q: How do I change the output mode from I2C to PWM?
A: You need to write to the specific configuration register (ANGOUT) via I2C initially to select the PWM mode. Once configured, the setting is stored in the OTP memory if burned, or remains in volatile memory until power loss.
Q: What is the maximum air gap allowed between the sensor and the magnet?
A: For optimal performance, we recommend an air gap of 0.5mm to 1.5mm. While it can function up to 3mm, accuracy may decrease as the gap increases.
Q: Is the magnet included in the package pre-magnetized diametrically?
A: Yes, the included magnet is pre-magnetized diametrically, which is required for the AS5600 chip to function correctly. No additional magnetization is needed.
