Saved my printer
I thought I needed to buy a whole new hotend assembly, but this kit had everything I needed. The pre-assembled nature means less chance of user error during installation. Very happy with the purchase.

Solid build, minor wiring note
The build quality is excellent and the thermistor readings are very stable. Just make sure to double-check your wire routing when installing, as the connector orientation is slightly different from older revisions. Once set up, it works flawlessly.

Perfect drop-in replacement
My original extruder started having temperature fluctuations after a year of heavy use. This kit was an exact fit for my IR3 V2. The integrated throat tube saved me so much time during installation. Prints are back to perfect quality immediately.

Good value, easy install
As someone relatively new to 3D printer maintenance, I was worried about swapping this out. The instructions were clear enough, and the fact that the throat and heater come together made it much easier. Works great so far.

Reliable for production runs
We use three IR3 printers in our small office for prototyping. Replaced the worn-out heads on two of them with this kit. Temperature stability is crucial for our dimensional accuracy, and this delivers consistently.

Great upgrade for consistency
The ceramic heating element heats up noticeably faster than the stock metal one. I've been printing PETG without any clogs or under-extrusion issues. Highly recommend keeping a spare of these on hand.
Q: What is the warranty period for this replacement part?
A: This accessory kit comes with a standard 90-day manufacturer warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. It does not cover damage caused by improper installation or electrical surges.
Q: Does this kit include the silicone sock for the heater block?
A: No, this specific accessory kit includes the extruder body, integrated throat tube, ceramic heater, and thermistor. The silicone protective sock is sold separately or may be reused from your previous setup if undamaged.
Q: Can I use this with high-temperature materials like Polycarbonate?
A: The kit is rated up to 300°C, which handles PLA, PETG, ABS, and TPU very well. While it can technically reach temperatures required for some Polycarbonate blends, we recommend ensuring your entire hotend path and enclosure are suitable for such high-heat printing before attempting it.
Q: Do I need to perform a PID tune after installing this?
A: Yes, it is highly recommended to run a PID auto-tune cycle after installing any new heating element or thermistor. This ensures the printer firmware learns the new thermal characteristics of the ceramic heater for optimal temperature stability.
Q: Is this compatible with the original IdeaFormer IR3 (non-V2)?
A: This kit is specifically designed for the IR3 V2 model. While the mounting points are similar, the wiring harness and integrated throat dimensions differ from the original IR3. We recommend using the specific kit for your printer version to ensure safety and performance.
