Beautiful but smaller than expected
This is a gorgeous piece that looks great on my desk. The quality of the ceramic is excellent. I gave it 4 stars only because I thought it would be slightly larger based on the photos, but it works perfectly for standard practice sessions.

Excellent weight and stability
One thing I love is the weight. It doesn't slide around on the felt mat even when I'm pressing hard with the brush. The green color is very soothing and traditional. A solid addition to my Four Treasures collection.

Great gift for beginners
I bought this for my daughter who just started learning Chinese characters. It's durable, easy to clean, and the integrated brush rest prevents ink from dripping onto the table. Highly recommend for students.

Lovely glaze, easy maintenance
The glaze makes cleaning incredibly easy; dried ink flakes right off after soaking. The color is a bit lighter than in the product images, more of a pale mint green, but still very elegant.

Perfect for my morning calligraphy practice
The celadon glaze is absolutely stunning and feels very smooth to the touch. The brush rest groove is perfectly sized for my medium wolf-hair brush. It holds ink well without leaking and cleans up instantly.

Functional art
Not only does it serve its purpose well as an inkstone alternative, but it also looks like a decorative object when not in use. The craftsmanship is top-notch with no visible imperfections.
Q: What is the capacity of the ink well?
A: The ink well holds approximately 30ml of liquid ink, which is sufficient for several pages of calligraphy practice or a small painting session before needing a refill.
Q: Is the bottom of the dish glazed to prevent scratching my table?
A: The bottom features a matte, unglazed foot ring typical of traditional ceramics. We recommend placing it on a felt mat or a protective coaster to prevent any potential scratching of delicate wooden surfaces.
Q: Can I put this in the dishwasher?
A: We recommend hand washing only. Although the ceramic is durable, the high heat and harsh detergents in a dishwasher may eventually dull the celadon glaze or damage the delicate brush rest groove over time.
Q: Is this dish suitable for liquid ink sticks or only pre-mixed liquid ink?
A: This dish is designed primarily for pre-mixed liquid ink. While you can grind an ink stick in it occasionally, it does not have the rough abrasive surface of a traditional inkstone, so it is best used with liquid ink for optimal results.
