Solid construction

Very sturdy and well-made. The resin parts blend well with the natural stone. It took a few uses to season the surface properly, but now it produces ink very consistently.

Good but heavier than expected

The inkstone itself is functional and grinds well, but it is quite heavy to carry around in a backpack. If you plan to travel with it, keep that in mind. Otherwise, it's a solid desk piece.

Perfect starter inkstone for my calligraphy class

I bought this for my beginner Chinese painting course and it works wonderfully. The stone grinds the ink stick smoothly without being too abrasive. The lid fits snugly to keep the ink moist overnight.

Beautiful natural patterns

Every stone is unique, and mine has lovely swirling patterns. It makes practicing brush strokes much more enjoyable. The reservoir holds enough water for a long session.

Great value for the clearance price

The quality is surprisingly good for a sale item. It has a nice weight to it and feels authentic. The only minor issue is a small chip on the underside of the lid, but it doesn't affect functionality.
