Essential tool for calligraphers
I bought this for wetting paper before calligraphy sessions. The water distribution is flawless. The bamboo tube handle feels sturdy and traditional. Highly recommended for anyone serious about their craft.

Sturdy and reliable
The construction is solid. The wool is tightly packed into the tube, so there is no worry about it falling out. It applies sizing to walls evenly without dripping too much. Very satisfied with this purchase.

Great quality wool
The wool fibers are soft and do not shed excessively. It works wonderfully for applying base coats on canvas. I deducted one star only because it took a few washes to fully soften up, but now it performs beautifully.

Excellent value
Compared to other hake brushes I have owned, this one offers superior water retention at a fraction of the price. The bristles bounce back well after cleaning. A staple in my studio now.

Good for broad strokes
Works exactly as described for base coating. The width is perfect for covering large areas quickly. Just make sure to clean it immediately after using adhesive pastes to prevent hardening.

Perfect for mounting large prints
This hake brush holds an incredible amount of paste. I used it to mount several large watercolor sheets and the application was smooth and even without any streaks. The thickened handle makes it very comfortable to hold for extended periods.
Q: Can this brush be used with oil-based paints?
A: This brush is specifically designed for water-based media such as ink, watercolor, sizing, and wheat paste. We do not recommend using it with oil-based paints as they can damage the natural wool fibers and are difficult to clean out completely.
Q: How do I clean the brush after using mounting paste?
A: Rinse the brush immediately under lukewarm running water until the water runs clear. Gently squeeze the bristles with your fingers to remove excess paste. Hang the brush upside down by the handle to air dry completely before storing.
Q: Does this brush shed a lot when new?
A: Minimal shedding is normal for natural wool brushes during the first few uses. We recommend rinsing the brush gently before the first use to remove any loose fibers. Shedding should stop completely after a couple of washes.
Q: What is the exact width of the bristle section?
A: The bristle section measures exactly 3 inches (approximately 7.6 cm) in width, making it ideal for broad coverage while still allowing for some control.
Q: Is the handle made of real bamboo?
