Great value combo
For the price, you really can't beat this set. The reel works well for beginner to intermediate anglers. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that the included fly box is a bit flimsy, but the rod itself is excellent.

Compact and sturdy
The carrying tube is fantastic. I've taken this on planes and checked it as luggage without any issues. The rod sections fit snugly and haven't loosened during transport.

Perfect for backpacking trips
I needed a rod that could fit easily into my hiking pack without sacrificing performance. This 8-section rod breaks down incredibly small and the tube is very durable. Casts smoothly once assembled.

Decent but heavy reel
The rod is great, lightweight and easy to cast. However, the reel feels a bit heavy for a 5-weight setup. It balances okay, but I might upgrade the reel eventually. Still a solid purchase for the price.

Surprisingly sensitive
I was skeptical about an 8-section rod having good action, but this one surprises me. It has a nice fast action and I can feel the bites clearly. Highly recommend for travel fishermen.

Good starter kit
