Reliable Ethernet Transceiver
Used this for an industrial sensor gateway. It has been running continuously for three weeks without dropping a packet. The auto-negotiation feature works perfectly with older switches too.

Solid performance, minor soldering needed
The module functions exactly as described. I had to solder my own header pins as they were not pre-attached on my batch, but the PCB quality is excellent. Stable 100Mbps connection achieved.

Compact and efficient

Good module, check voltage levels
Works well but ensure your microcontroller supports 3.3V logic for the RMII lines. Once configured correctly, it provides a stable network connection for our robot controller.

Perfect for STM32 Projects

Great for learning networking
Bought this for my university embedded systems course. The documentation online combined with this hardware made implementing TCP/IP stack much easier to understand. Highly recommended for students.
Q: Does this module support Gigabit Ethernet?
A: No, the LAN8720 chip specifically supports 10/100 Mbps Fast Ethernet only. For Gigabit speeds, you would need a different model like the LAN8710 or similar.
Q: Is the 5V tolerance available on the input pins?
A: The module operates at 3.3V logic levels. While it has an onboard regulator for power input, the data pins (RMII) are not 5V tolerant and should be connected to 3.3V MCU pins only.
Q: Can I use this with an ESP32 development board?
A: Yes, the ESP32 supports the EMAC peripheral with RMII interface. You will need to map the GPIO pins correctly in your code and provide a 50MHz reference clock.
Q: What is the pin spacing for the headers?
A: The module uses standard 2.54mm (0.1 inch) pin spacing, making it compatible with most breadboards and standard female header cables.
Q: Does it come with example code for Arduino?
A: The hardware is compatible with Arduino boards that have Ethernet libraries, but since this is a raw PHY module, you typically need an MCU with built-in MAC or an external SPI-to-Ethernet bridge. Check specific library compatibility for your host controller.
