Great value, minor pin confusion
The display quality is fantastic for the price. I had to double-check the pinout diagram as it differed slightly from my previous module, but once connected, it worked flawlessly. Highly recommend for beginners.

Good for learning
As a student learning embedded systems, this module provided everything I needed. The documentation could be slightly more detailed regarding the SD card initialization, but online examples filled the gap.

Solid build quality
The PCB feels sturdy and the soldering points are clean. Integrating the SD card reader alongside the display saved me space on my prototype. No dead pixels found.

Bright and Crisp
I used this for a weather station project. The brightness is sufficient even in indirect sunlight. The SPI communication is fast, making animations smooth. Very happy with this purchase.

Perfect for Arduino Projects
The colors on this IPS screen are vibrant and the viewing angles are excellent. Setting it up with the ST7789 library was straightforward. The TF card slot is a great bonus for logging data or displaying images.

Bought five for our workshop
All five units arrived in perfect condition. They are consistent in color calibration which is important when building multiple identical devices. The YwRobot brand has been reliable for us.
Q: Does this module work directly with 5V Arduino Uno logic levels?
A: Yes, the module includes a voltage regulator and level shifting circuitry, making it safe to connect directly to 5V boards like the Arduino Uno without additional components.
Q: What file systems are supported on the TF card slot?
A: The hardware supports standard FAT16 and FAT32 file systems. Please ensure your MicroSD card is formatted to FAT32 for best compatibility with most Arduino libraries.
Q: Is there a touchscreen layer included on this display?
A: No, this specific model is a display-only module with an IPS screen and TF card slot. It does not include touch functionality. Please check our catalog for resistive or capacitive touch variants if needed.
Q: Can I power this module solely from the 3.3V pin of an ESP32?
A: While the logic is 3.3V compatible, drawing power for the backlight and screen from the ESP32's 3.3V pin may exceed its current limit. We suggest powering the VCC pin from the 5V pin and using the 3.3V pin only for logic signals if necessary, or use an external 3.3V source capable of supplying at least 300mA.
Q: Which Arduino library do you recommend for driving the ST7789 driver?
A: We recommend using the 'TFT_eSPI' library by Bodmer, as it offers excellent performance and extensive configuration options for the ST7789 driver. The 'Adafruit_ST7789' library is also compatible.
