Great value, minor documentation gaps
Hardware quality is excellent and the price is very competitive compared to TI's official launchpads. However, the schematic provided could be more detailed regarding the power regulation section. Still, highly recommended for experienced users.

Solid choice for FOC development
Using this for Field Oriented Control algorithms. The floating-point unit performance is impressive. Only wish it came with a built-in debugger, but using an external XDS110 works fine.

Perfect for dual-core motor control projects

Excellent learning tool
As someone transitioning from Arduino to industrial DSPs, this board was manageable. The community examples for the 28377D helped me get the PWM modules running in a weekend.

Compact and powerful
The form factor is incredibly small considering the processing power. It fits perfectly into our custom enclosure designs. The ADC sampling rate is accurate and consistent for our current sensing applications.
Q: What is the input voltage range for the board?
A: The board accepts a 5V DC input via the micro-USB port or the dedicated 5V header pin. It features onboard regulators to step this down to the required 3.3V and 1.2V for the DSP.
Q: Can both cores run independent tasks simultaneously?
A: Absolutely. The TMS320F28377D features two independent C28x CPU cores. You can assign separate tasks to each core, such as one handling motor control loops and the other managing communication protocols.
Q: Does this board come with an onboard debugger or do I need an external one?
A: This mini core board does not include an onboard debugger. You will need an external JTAG emulator, such as the TI XDS110 or XDS200, connected via the standard 20-pin Cortex header.
Q: Are there protection circuits on the GPIO pins?
A: The board includes basic series resistors and ESD protection diodes on critical lines. However, for industrial environments with high noise or voltage spikes, we recommend adding external isolation or buffering circuitry.
Q: Is the source code for the example projects available?
A: Yes, we provide a GitHub repository link in the product manual containing basic examples for GPIO, PWM, ADC, and CAN communication compatible with Code Composer Studio v12 and later.
