Reliable for learning ARM architecture
Bought this for a university course on embedded systems. Students found it easy to flash images and experiment with GPIO controls. The 512MB RAM is adequate for most educational tasks.

Stable for production prototypes

Great value, minor docs gaps
Hardware quality is solid and the price point is unbeatable for a dual-core A7 board. I had to dig into the community forums for some specific device tree configurations, but once set up, it works flawlessly.

Good boot speed
Boot times are impressively fast with a customized kernel. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that the carrier board needs to be purchased separately, which wasn't immediately clear from the main image.

Perfect for embedded Linux projects
This board is exactly what I needed for my industrial sensor gateway. The RK3506B runs smoothly with Buildroot, and the documentation provided by Xinghu was sufficient to get started quickly.
Q: Can I power this directly via the GPIO pins?
A: While technically possible, we strongly recommend using the dedicated 5V Type-C or pin header power input to ensure stable voltage regulation and prevent damage to the core board.
Q: Does the RK3506B support hardware video decoding?
A: Yes, the RK3506B includes a VPU capable of H.264 and H.265 decoding up to 1080p@30fps, making it suitable for lightweight video surveillance applications.
Q: Does this board come with a pre-installed OS image?
A: The board typically ships with a basic U-Boot bootloader. You will need to download the Linux image (Buildroot or Debian) from our official GitHub repository and flash it yourself.
Q: What is the maximum resolution supported for the LCD output?
A: The RGB interface supports resolutions up to 1280x800 at 60Hz, while the MIPI DSI interface can handle up to 1920x1080 depending on the specific panel used.
